Hello Mac Families,
On behalf of everyone at the PTSA, I wanted to take just a moment to remind and encourage everyone to do your part to keep yourselves, and everyone, safe and healthy during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
As you know, school was to resume following Spring Break on Monday, but AISD leadership has extended Spring Break through Friday, April 3. The campus remains closed and all school events, performances, and other extracurricular activities have been postponed or canceled.
The current AISD plan is to resume with online classes on Monday, April 6. The faculty and staff are working diligently to prepare for that change to our learning situation and want to be prepared to help each student succeed.
Over the next few weeks, it’s very important that we all do our part to keep everyone healthy. That means:
- Stay at home. We are all being asked to limit our trips away from home to the essentials.
- Practice social distancing. If and when you must go out, try and maintain a 6-foot distance from anyone else out and about.
- Wash your hands. Experts say the simplest thing you can do is to wash your hands thoroughly.
- Be patient. The sacrifices we are being asked to make are for the greater good. Staying home helps flatten the curve – minimizing the rate at which the virus can be spread. The sooner we do that, the healthier we will all remain and the sooner we can resume doing the things we enjoy doing.
As Principal Brandi Hosack told The Shield – our student newspaper – this is a situation that is changing quickly and we must be ready to adapt to changes designed to keep us safe on a daily basis.
Thank you for doing your part to keep McCallum safe and healthy.
