Happy Friday Mac Families!
I am writing with important information for families about next week at McCallum. You should have received a letter from AISD detailing the state of COVID-19 in our city and how we will proceed as a result. Beginning on Monday, January 25, we will be back to closer to normal operations like we functioned right after winter break. Students who have attended in-person at any point this school year are welcome to come back. Any student who would like to switch from virtual to in-person should contact the appropriate assistant principal (AP) as soon as possible so we can prepare for your arrival. You can find your AP’s contact information here: https://mccallumhs.com/facultystaff/administrators/
We have two unusual school days this upcoming week:
Tuesday, January 26 – PSAT Testing Day for 11th Graders
We will have many 11th grade students here on Tuesday, January 26th to take the PSAT test. We are asking ALL students in 9th, 10th, and 12th grades in addition to any 11th graders who did not sign up to test to remain home for remote learning that day. Most of our teachers will be here to proctor the test and, as a result, will have asynchronous lessons set up on Blend. It is very important that all students log into Blend to complete their attendance and assignments on that day. Most of our test-takers will be done by 2:00. You may have a class after 2:00 with normal synchronous operations. Your teacher will communicate the plan to you so please be sure to check Blend.
Friday, January 29 – Asynchronous Remote Friday
This is our first of four district-assigned asynchronous remote Fridays. All students and most staff will remain home so our school can get a deep cleaning. Lessons, assignments, and attendance will be posted to Blend. Just like we asked of you on Tuesday the 26th, we ask that students log into Blend to complete their attendance and assignments on the 29th, as well.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. As always, we are here to help. Please reach out if you need us.
