Dear Austin ISD Families of Graduates,
Congratulations on your student’s upcoming graduation!
The safety of everyone attending this year’s ceremonies is AISD’s top priority. With that in mind, we’re writing to let you know about security procedures that will be in place at the Erwin Center during this year’s events.
All guests will be required to walk through a magnetometer when they enter the Erwin Center. If the magnetometer alarms, that guest will need to be “wanded.”
You can do your part to speed up this process by emptying your pockets of all items, including cell phones, keys, change and mint cans before going through the magnetometer.
Noisemakers, including air horns, whistles, rattles and cowbells, will also set off the alarm and will be confiscated at the door.
Please expect delays when trying to enter the Erwin Center, and plan to arrive early to avoid long lines.
Parking and traffic near the Erwin Center continue to be affected by the construction of the new UT Dell Medical school, so all families are strongly encouraged to ride the free shuttles to their child’s ceremony.
Information about the schedule of ceremonies, parking, free shuttles and more is available at austinisd.org/graduation.
Families will also be able to watch the ceremonies live online. A link to that webcast will be posted at the above site at a later date.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to a special and safe graduation!
