Hi Mac Students and Families,
I sure hope this is the last update to send you regarding this grading period. Who knew we’d be in such a predicament!?
I’d like to share with you what we discussed as a staff today. We are all concerned about the well-being of our students. Our teachers and staff have also been through the ringer this past week and our empathy is high! We all want to see our students succeed.
Here’s our plan:
- The grading period still ends on Tuesday, February 23 (we can’t change that)
- Teachers must finalize grades by Friday, February 26. However, because teachers need to have time to grade assignments, students must turn in late assignments or missing work no later than Thursday, February 25 at noon. (This is a slight change from before because the district moved the teacher deadline back by one day – yay!)
- Teachers are aware that there may still be students who need extra time. For this grading cycle, teachers will have the flexibility to give Incompletes in the grade book. They will be able to make grade changes and clear Incompletes in the grade book up to Friday, March 5. It is imperative that leading up to that time, students communicate with their teachers in advance of March 5th because they will need time to grade assignments before this deadline. Teachers will discuss with students the specific deadlines that work for them in order to both accommodate students and meet their deadlines.
- There will be no new content presented this week. Please attend your class Zoom sessions and work with your teachers to get caught up.
We want this to work for our students! Much love to you all and I hope you have everything you need to be safe and comfortable.
