April 9 and Fall Plans
Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing spring break. A couple of friendly reminders, please remember that we will offer full weeks of school for the rest of the semester. Friday, April 9, which had previously been scheduled as an asynchronous day, will now be a regular instruction day. In addition, as you plan for the 2021-22 school year, keep in mind that Austin ISD plans on offering standard face-to-face instruction as well as an optional virtual hybrid model. We will continue to provide updates as we receive more information and guidance from TEA.
Thank you for your on-going commitment to following COVID-19 safety precautions. Cases in the area have continued to decline and on March 13 Austin Public Health adjusted its COVID-19 risk-based guidelines to Stage 3. We encourage all families to continue wearing masks, social distancing where feasible, and regularly washing and sanitizing hands. These efforts with the continued success of the vaccine rollout will help ensure our community’s health and well-being.
Calling all volunteers! Help us block walk and reconnect with our AISD families. Operation Reconnect is a door-to-door neighborhood walk to engage and recruit families back to Austin ISD schools. The first such event will take place on April 10 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The focus of the event is campuses in the northeast corridor of the district.
Community Conversations with Dr. Elizalde
Austin ISD staff, families and community members are invited to join Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde and district leadership for a series of virtual Conversations with the District. These sessions will be an opportunity to meet Dr. Elizalde and her leadership team and to learn more about the AISD 2020-25 Strategic Plan and 2021-22 budget process. We look forward to visiting with you!
Participants can choose which event to attend based on their school’s Vertical Team or feeder high school to create space for conversation specific to each family of schools. Staff conversations will take place from 4:30–5:30 p.m. and conversations for families and community members will take place from 5:30–6:30 p.m. See all dates and times on our website.
