1. Rally Day: Texas PTA Rally Day is Feb. 27 from 9-12, where we will show the legislature we want the state to pick up its fair share on education funding! 2. Text Action Alerts: Sign up for Make it Matter Mondays, our new 2-minute action alerts sent straight to your phone. Text @acpt to 81010. You will get legislators’ phone numbers and scripts to advocate for specific bills as they are voted on by the state legislature.

3. Deep Dive: One of the biggest issues is that the state has reduced its share of paying for public education, and increased its reliance on local property taxes. This puts an undue burden on homeowners and school districts. Last year, the state funded only 43% of public education in Texas; this year it will be only 40%, and next year it is projected to drop to 37%. House Joint Resolution (HJR) 27 by Rep. Donna Howard would require the state to pay at least 50 percent of public education. This means more of your property tax dollars could stay in Austin ISD! Learn more by clicking here.
