College Counselor Info/News
Nancy Nitardy has been the McCallum College Counselor for 10 years, and has been at the school for 14, spending the first four with the GEAR Up grant program. Ms. Nitardy helps students with “everything and anything” to do with post-secondary plans: career and college, GAP year, work, SAT and ACT registration, scholarships. She also handles ACC Early College Start, TSI testing, application and forms. Ms. Nitardy is also the golf coach. Prior to moving to Austin, she was the head swim coach at Indiana University, Harvard and Dartmouth for about 20 years.
High school students can start earning college credit before graduating from high school. Austin Community College enrolls eligible high school students through the Early College Start program. Courses may be taken at any ACC campus, ACC center, online, or at some high school campuses.
Naviance is a web tool that offers students and parents a one-stop shop for post-secondary information. It helps students align their strengths and interests to post-secondary goals. Naviance helps students create a plan for their futures by discovering strengths and learning styles, and exploring college and career options. Naviance also shows when college recruiters are visiting McCallum, and gives users the ability to sign up to attend.

ACT, PSAT, SAT and TSI prep online for FREE!
All AISD students have access to a free test prep website called Edgenuity and the link to the website is on your Naviance homepage. During the first log in, students will have the opportunity to watch a video demonstration of how the site works. I highly recommend students view this to better understand the site and how to use it to the student’s advantage.
To log onto Edgenuity, use “s” and student ID# for username and password for all students is x12345. You can change your password after logging on for the first time. If you are not able to log on, contact your counselor.
