Dear McCallum Students and Parents,

The 2020-2021 school year is finally here! We have been very busy getting ready to provide you with a quality and engaging educational experience at this remarkable time. The purpose of this email is to make sure you have what you need in order to have a successful first week of school!

School Start

We are starting the first four weeks of school online (Sept 8 – Oct. 5). You will receive information about the next phase soon.

First Day of School

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8. Tuesday is a B Day. Please see the *new* Mac Student Hub (bookmark this!) to find all kinds of important documents like the bell schedule and the A/B Calendar. This is the schedule we will follow on Tuesday:

  • 5th Period: 9:00 – 10:30
  • Round Table (may show as Advisory on your schedule): 10:35 – 11:05
  • 6th Period: 11:10 – 12:40
  • Lunch: 12:40 – 1:35
  • 7th Period: 1:35 – 3:05
  • 8th Period: 3:10 – 4:40

This schedule includes both synchronous time (time in a Zoom room with teacher and peers) and asynchronous time (time to work on your own, at your own pace). You should NOT expect to be on Zoom all day but you should expect to engage with your teacher and classmates at the beginning of each period.

Student User ID and Login

Student User IDs and Passwords follow this formula:

  • Username: s_ _ _ _ _ _ _ (s + student ID number)
  • Password: Uppercase first letter of last name + 6-digit birthdate + lowercase s

  • Lucy Pickle born on October 3, 2004 whose ID is 123456
  • Lucy’s Username: s123456
  • Password P100304s

Where can I find my schedule?

Go to  “AISD Cloud” Self Serve

You can find your schedule in the Self Serve tile in the Student Cloud (or Parent Cloud).

Once you get logged on, press the Schedule tab at the top to view your schedule.

Where can I find my teacher’s Zoom Code?

Your teachers will meet you in their Zoom Room at the beginning of each period. Zoom codes will be found in the teacher’s Blend site (NOTE: Blend Courses will not viewable until Monday).

To get to Blend:

Go to “Blend” Courses

Get your Chromebook Ready for Class

You may notice that Zoom is out-of-date on their Chromebooks. Chromebooks must be “power washed” (restored to Austin ISD default settings) for Zoom to update automatically. Here are instructions as well as a link to a video for how to do so.

Student Guide to Zoom

Please read our Mac Student Guide to Zoom before Tuesday.

We are excited to see you at school (on Zoom) on Tuesday! We will be hosting a support lounge for anyone who is experiencing problems finding their classes. I will send more information on Tuesday morning about that. We definitely want you to be able to find your classes.

Thank you,

Nicole Griffith
