-Boston Herald

Charlotte and George Hay are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac “revised, one nostril version” and Noel Coward’s Private Lives, when they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee.

Animal Farm
May 12-14, 2017 Fine Arts Building Theatre

MacTheatre is about CREATING a movement: the ART of a Revolution. Join us. Think and question with us. Create a movement with us. All are welcome. George Orwell’s revolutionary masterpiece comes to the stage with MacTheatre’s world premiere re-imagining of Animal Farm. After revolting against the reign of their negligent human master, the animals of Mr. Jones’s farm create their own ideal society in which all animals are equal and rules are set by democratic vote. It’s all working pretty well, until the allure of power leads the animals to a chilling fate. Animal Farm illustrates how new tyranny replaces old and power corrupts even the noblest of causes.

The Importance of Being Earnest

Oscar Wilde is a master of sophisticated comedy, and The Importance of Being Earnest is his masterpiece. Like all the composers of classics, Wilde injected timeless messages into his plays. Although the play was written near the end of the 19th century, the message is still valid—a person’s name and heritage mean little; it’s what you make of yourself that counts. Oscar Wilde wraps up his message into a delightful package.
