Jedi Knights of Steel Play at Star Wars Launch

The Knights of Steel played a three-song Star Wars set as part of the Alamo Drafthouse’s “Star Wars on the Beach” promotion in conjunction with the opening weekend of the new movie, “Rogue One.” The Knights already had learned the Star Wars cantina song, but they added the imperial march and the main theme so they could go “rogue” for a live audience.

Sara Laymon, Mollie Adolph, Lily McCormick (‘18) and Mac parent Mike Laymon present band director Carol Nelson with a panoramic photo of the 1978 Longhorn band. In 2009, all of Nelson’s childhood, high school and college memories, photos and yearbooks were destroyed in fire. In a competition with 12 teams and more than 300 swimmers at the 2017 Tex Robertson Invitational in Burnet, the girls team took first place and the boys took second. Overall, the entire team placed second.
